I've seen so many people doing this and I think it's pretty cool so I decided to follow suit. This is my shout-outs to some of my FRIENDS that have impacted my life in a meaningful way, you know, the ones I will never forget. Most of them already know what they mean to me, but just thought I'd let the world, well at least y'all know too. Some of you might know the email that talks about three types of people; those who are placed in your life for a reason, a season, and those who are there for your lifetime. These are definitely ma lifetime peeps. So here goes...
My best friend, my twinny, eventhough we think so differently at times, Paula. Every time I think about how we met and the different circumstances in our lives, I'm reassured that our meeting wasn't by chance, rather it was strategically set up by God. We are part of each other's destiny, and I'm sure about that. I wouldn't even try to start talking about the things we've been thru, cuz there sure aint enuf space on here. But the beauty of it all is that time and time again I can remember you being right there for me when I needed you the most. And I'm sure you can say the same about me. There's no doubt you're in ma corner, you've got ma back, and as they would say nowadays, you ma ride or die chick. I'm so grateful that I've been blessed with such a friendship in this lifetime. Girl you know I love you and will always be there for you.
To my sister, (yea you fam) and one of my oldest and dearest friends Chen-Sue. You are the epitome of strength, and I admire you for that. We have come a long way and have been through so much. We've experienced a lot, some of which wasn't always good, but I would not change a minute of our friendship because they have led us to be where we are today. To borrow from something you said, "A true friend is more than just someone with whom we share common values and who accepts us for what we are. Such a friend is someone whom we can trust to refine our understanding of what it means to live, who can guide us when we're lost and help us find the way along a path." Thanks for being all of that and so much more. I have the utmost respect for you, and I truly value and love you. Nothing will ever change that.
Stacey, affectionately known as Stanjo (well to some of us anyway). We aren't as close as we use to be, but your friendship is one that I will never forget. You truly understand what it means to be a friend, and I don't take that lightly. Your actions do speak louder than your words, so thank you for showing me that you care. Your genuineness is so lacking in today's society, it's not found in many. So keep on keeping it real girl. That's what makes you "you" and special in my book. I think it goes without saying, I love you girl. Let's make sure we keep the link.
K-Ann, the mother of my first God-child. This girl and I go way back as well. Bwaay we have some stories that I just sit back and laugh about more times. If you think about it we've been thru quite a bit together. Let's continue to make those memories K. Another genuine human being. Yea I can't stand fake so that is reflected in the friends I keep around me. You always keep me laughing, though it's usually at someone cuz you stay making fun of people. That may sound harsh, but hey it's usually true and we're usually thinking it, but you just brazen enough to say it. I love that about you. You have now started a new chapter in your life, your own family (shout outs to ma boy Z, big ups to Mark, lol), and I know you'll continue to be a great mother and wife. I love you girl.
Ma step cousin, little sis (yea you younger), and one of ma closest friends Keisha. Can you believe it's been 10 years already? Wow, another mother to be of my 1st God daughter, to be. Bwaay you definitely in ma life for a reason. The only person that can call me at least five times every single day, and vice versa and I don't get annoyed. I mean she has got to know everything there is to know about me. From every little insignificant happenings in our day to day life to the most intimate thoughts that only me and God, and now you know. We've also been thru a lot, but I wouldn't change a minute of it. (Yea I know I've said that about all ma frens but I guess those are the things that have strengthened, tested and proven our friendship, and brought us to where we are today). I truly appreciate you. I think everyone needs a Keisha in their life, thank God I have one. The sky is the limit for you, and I see great things for your future, don't ever doubt that. Love ya girl!
My better half, my oldest and best male friend Rodger. You're the one person who truly gets me. You always seem to understand what I mean without me having to explain in details. You've always been so honest with me and somehow always managed to see right thru me and whatever façade I tend to put up at times. When we first met we clicked instantly, and got close really quickly. (I still can't remember what we use to find to talk bout in our many long conversations). There was a little hiatus in our relationship, but we quickly corrected that and now as we've matured our relationship has also grown to another level and I truly treasure what we have. For your sweet spirit, your loyalty, your desire for the things of God, your honesty, for always being ready with an encouraging word…for all that and more, I love you and thank God for placing you in my life.
